The Frank Algar scholarship is awarded to students with hearing impairments, whether the impairment is from birth, or due to hearing loss over time. Eligible candidates must be either a)new students enrolled in a post-secondary educations or b) persons returning to full-time post-secondary educational institution. Candidates must hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. The candidates’ communicty involvement is taken into consideration during the application review process.
The candidate must submit documentation demonstrating enrolment to a postsecondary educational institution as well as medical documentation confirming their hearing impairment. A personal statement in which the candidate describes her/his career goals and two letters of recommendation by persons other than relatives, a copy of the candidate’s most recent academic transcript, and the application form are required with the submission.
