Paratransit – Capitale-Nationale

In the Capitale-Nationale region, paratransit service is provided by the Réseau de Transport de la Capitale (RTC) through the Service de transport adapté de la Capitale (STAC). To benefit from this service, one must complete an application form or contact the STAC at (418) 687-2641, option 3. Once the form has been filled out, it must be sent to the following address:

Service de transport adapté de la Capitale (STAC)

2750, boul. Wilfrid-Hamel

Québec (Québec)  G1P 2J1

Once the request has been reviewed, if it is accepted, an identification card and a user number will be issued. Paratransit fares are identical to regular transportation fares. They vary, however, according to the user’s category, among which one can find the Abonnement mensuel RTC category and the Abonnement Métropolitain mensuel.

The tickets can be purchased at RTC points of sales; it is important to request STAC cardboard tickets at the time of purchase. It is important to note that these tickets are not accepted on RTC buses (regular transport).

Additionally, one must hold an OPUS card with a photo which can be obtained at secondary educational institutions or at RTC service centres, with proof of full-time srudies. Fees for the issuance of the OPUS card are $15.

Reservations for STAC transport can be made online (through the RTC website) or by phone. Reservations can be made from Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on holidays and weekends from 7:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.  It is important to note that reservations must be made by 4 p.m. at the latest on the day before the planned outing. The RTC allows users to be accompanied during outings if such a need has been identified by the eligibility committee. Different statuses can be granted to personal attendants, among which: compulsory, temporary, occasional, related to parental responsibilities, and for assistance at point of destination. Only occasional and parental attendants are required to pay transportation fees. The number of personal attendants is limited to one except in the cases of attendance related to parental responsibilities. To find out more about personal attendants on paratransit vehicles, please call (418) 687-2641 ext. 0.
